Kapatagan’s Lao hailed as VisMin MVP; MisOr’s Ubalde named as best homegrown

Edrian Lao of the BYB Kapatagan Buffalos has been named as the Most Valuable Player of the Chooks to Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup Mindanao Challenge.

Lao, a product of University of Visayas, averaged 9.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.6 blocks to lead BYB Kapatagan Buffalos to a 7-5 record, good for third place in the standings. He was also instrumental in Buffalos’ wins over Basilan BRT Peace Riders in the quarterfinals and Pagadian Explorers in the semifinals enroute to a finals berth.

Joining Lao in the Mythical Five selections were Kapatagan teammate Jonel Bonganciso, Shaq Imperial of AMIN -Zamboanga Sibugay Warriors, Judel Fuentes of Pagadian Explorers and Joel Lee Yu of Globalport ZValientes MisOr.

Bonganciso was a perfect complement to Lao by registering 9.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.

Shaq Imperial, the MVP runner-up, served as the heart and soul of AMIN – Zamboanga Sibugay Warriors by averaging 11.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.9 steals.

Judel Fuentes of Pagadian notched 13.0 points 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists to lead the home team and Joel Lee Yu helped Globalport ZValientes MisOr a to a league leading 8-4 record by virtue of 13.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.

Nicole Ubalde of Globalport ZValientes MisOr was named as the Best Homegrown player after averaging 4.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals.

Vis Valencia, also of Globalport ZValientes MisOr, was awarded as the Best Coach for steering MisOr to first seed at the end of the eliminations.
