Former VisMin strengthening coach, now part of PBA anew

Strength and conditioning coach Aldo Panlilio is returning his fitness programs to the PBA after being tapped by the Blackwater Bossings as part of their staff.

Panlilio is back to the Philippines’ premier basketball league after spending time as member of the coaching staff of the Clarin Sto. Nino of the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup.

In a recent interview in Ato Ni Bai Sports Connect, the 32-year old gym owner is excited to the back to the PBA, mentioning that he has a lot to prove to the fans, players and coaches after being part of the league in the past.

Asked about his insights about the changes brought about by the pandemic to his profession, Panlilio revealed that as gym owner, his business really suffered due to different limitations and restrictions. He also mentioned that people nowadays have no or less motivation to stay in shape also due to travel restrictions.

Panlilio also opened up about the new normal coaching which is based on zoom workouts and sending fitness programs which is very odd considering the normal face to face interactions between a strengthening coach and clients.

When asked about the difference in conditioning between players in VisMin with those in the PBA, Panlilio cleared that it will be of same approach, conditioning wise. It will be more on mental challenge since PBA deals with heavier and stronger players and more physical actions.

“Kase nanggaling na din ako sa PBA, nakakapanibago din yong system of play, sa PBA very calculated, dito (VisMin) yes, there’s a flow but it’s more mas physical sa VisMin, tapos yong tawagan mas makapal which is good na kailangan din nila alamin na kailangan ko magpalakas, kailangan ko talaga mag improve dito sa aspect na ito, so yun lang yong napansin ko with 3 months na nandun ako, yong style of play, parang even kung wala kang pangalan hindi ka big name, ang tao mapapa “oy sino yan? ang galing naman niyan” so maganda na din na malaman na may talent sa lahat ng Pilipinas basta may liga na ganito na Pwede sila maglaro, madidiscover din talaga sila”, Panlilio explained.

Panlilio has nice strong words for both fans and players. “Kung gusto nyo basketball, laruin nyo lang ng laruin. Kasi may chance na malayo ang mararating nyo. Pero wag nyo kakalimutan pagaaral nyo, wag nyo kakalimutan si God”, he said.

The Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup is presented by Chooks to Go, in association with MDC ball, Wcube Solutions Inc, Virux, Tolak Angin, Phenom, Finn Cotton, 1st Core Fitness Center and Bucket Vault PH.
