Anak Mindanao Warriors all-in to develop grassroots and promote peace at the 2nd conference of Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup.

In the recent show of Ato Ni Bai Sports Connect, one of the newest members of Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup, the Anak Mindanao or AMIN Warriors representing the province of Zamboanga Sibugay joined the panel to talk about the team.

One of their players is the former Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals Jan Jamon who played in various semi-pro leagues prior to his commitment to Anak Mindanao. He was part of the 2016 PBA Draft, was selected at 1st pick in the 4th round by the Mahindra Floodbusters, but wasn’t able to showcase his talent in the country’s biggest league. Searching for more basketball opportunities made him decide to play for Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) where he became an integral core of the Pasay Voyagers in 2019.

He acknowledged coach Arnold Oliveros for calling him to join VisMin.

“Nagpapasalamat ako kay coach Arnold Oliveros nung sinabi niya inassign siya bilang head coach, tinawagan ako ni coach Arnold, kaya talagang nagpapasalamat ako.” Jamon added.

Another guest is the head coach of the Anak Mindanao Warriors Arnold Oliveros. He was part of the coaching staff for the Basilan Peace Riders, the inaugural champions of Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup.

Asked on what system he will implement for his new team, Oliveros bared that he wants his team to be aggressive, defensive minded team.

“Actually, last conference part ako ng Basilan team, kami yung nag champion, medyo nakita ko na yung tema sa VisMin, advantage ka kung mas bata ka at medyo agresibo, kaya yung binuild kong team yung more on defense and syempre gusto ko running game para makasabay kami sa ibang team,” shared by Oliveros.

The bench tactician also promised to give their all to represent the province whole heartedly.

“Ipapangako ko na bibigyan ko ng magandang laban every game, Zamboanga Sibugay AMIN Warriors will always be ready and will fight every game for the fans and for the community of Sibugay,” continued by Oliveros.

The last guest of the interactive show was the team manager of Anak Mindanao, Niño Natividad who will also be in-charge of the basketball operations for Zamboanga Sibugay.

Natividad shared that the players were mainly picked by their head coach during the tryouts. He is thankful that the tryouts were successful because many aspirants participated to have their chance to play as professional basketball players.

Asked why their team joined the first professional basketball league based in the south, Natividad bared that they believe that VisMin is the proper avenue for the development of their young players.

“The reason why we wanted to join is to build grassroots especially sa Zamboanga Sibugay province, knowing that yung VisMin kasi is parang ito ang tunay na liga where we can develop players from the grassroots… also we want to advance the sports program in the region, also to promote peace,” the young team manager shared.

Despite being a new team, the Anak Mindanao Warriors of Zamboanga Sibugay is one of the teams that is truly exciting to watch in the upcoming season of the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup.

Make sure to catch them play as the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup starts on November 20, 2021.
